Art is the language
of the soul

Art serves as a powerful instrument not only for expression but also for healing, learning, and understanding, making it accessible and enriching for people of all ages. Golden Repair is committed to revitalizing the cultural imagination, fostering curiosity, and nurturing empathy. Our non-judgmental atmosphere and programs celebrate the unique stories of each individual, welcoming everyone from kids to seniors. By offering experiences that extend beyond the canvas, Golden Repair creates a space where art truly is for everyone.

We offer art classes for adults and kids

Golden Repair is led by me, Luz Bratcher. I’m a therapeutic artist, elementary art teacher, and seasoned creative. I also identify as a wounded healer: grief, depression, anxiety, and burnout have all been significant themes of my story, from family mental health crises and navigating my own neurodivergence, to toxic tech jobs and traumatic deaths. Most recently, my husband and I lost our daughter at 36 weeks in 2023. While I had hoped to spend the rest of my life teaching her art, I would love to teach you how to become your most creative self in her honor. I’ve seen how art can bring new language for restoration and healing, and I would love to invite you into that space that I am also inhabiting as well.

While this is serious work, we will do it through learning how to play in community, how to reframe perfectionism into pleasure, and ultimately having fun as an explorer of your soul. Come even if you’re having difficulty showing up for yourself—it’s my joy to guide you into a restful dance of creative rediscovery.

Testimonials

  • Luz's vast and varied knowledge about the intersections of art and healing has been invaluable to me. I've had the pleasure of attending several of her classes over the years, and each time I've come away with revelations about my work and my own self-worth. As a result, I've become both more creatively expansive in my art and more loving towards the softer parts of myself that I couldn't hear before.

    Megan

  • Luz fosters a culture of fearless exploration, under her guidance, I am not a passive learner. I am actively crafting my artistic voice and expression with constant encouragement, support and joyful play. She has a remarkable ability to empower others and has been instrumental in unveiling layers of creativity within me.

    Cecilia

  • Luz is the ultimate creativity companion and facilitator. When Luz was offering creative play lunch hours, I found myself showing up not only for her tailored art prompts for my current state of aesthetic angst, she is a snug harbor to talk about creative process as it relates to material experimentation, life stages, overall well-being, etc. and holding generous hospitality for all the participants. I always leave a Luz session feeling energized to keep on creating!

    Judy

  • Luz's classes allowed me to explore my inner world in a unique way. She guides you to embrace the healing potential of creativity as a means to explore emotions that words often cannot convey. I wholeheartedly recommend her classes.

    Sori

  • Luz makes the creative process so approachable and restorative. I always leave her classes feeing more integrated and connected to my deepest self.

    Sarita

  • Luz is incredibly good at teaching a diverse group of folks, from professional artists to people like me who can barely draw a stick figure. I’ve been applying what I’ve learned about working with shapes and releasing perfectionist tendencies to my photography with great results.
